If you use MYOB Workforce Management, MYOB's Flare can help automate stapled super fund lookups as part of employee self-onboarding—reducing manual administration and helping you meet your super obligations. In this guide, we’ll explain what super stapling means, how Flare works with MYOB Workforce Management, and the one-time ATO Access Manager setup you’ll need to complete to get started.

What is super stapling?

From 1 July 2026, new super stapling requirements combined with PayDay Super will make getting the right super fund details an important part of your employee onboarding process. A stapled super fund is an existing super account linked, or 'stapled', to an individual employee so it follows them as they change jobs.

You must request your employee's stapled super fund details from the ATO if the employee started working for you after 1/11/2021 and is eligible to choose a super fund but don't (this includes independent contractors who are employees for super guarantee purposes). A stapled super fund is mandatory if you advertise super funds during your employee onboarding process.

What is Flare?

Flare is an MYOB company providing workplace solutions to Australian businesses and their employees. BusinessHub does not provide financial or legal advice. More information about Flare is available on the Flare website.

Why use Flare for super fund lookups in MYOB Workforce Management

  • Build stapling into employee self-onboarding. Choosing a fund happens in the normal onboarding flow reducing paper forms and chasing missing super details.
  • Automates stapled fund lookups via the ATO. Once Flare is authorised in Access Manager, the stapled fund lookup happens automatically in employee self-onboarding.
  • Prompts employees to review or accept their stapled fund. This saves you having to do the stapled fund lookup.
  • Stay compliant and reduce risk. Flare securely requests each employee’s existing fund from the ATO, helping you meet your obligations with confidence.
If you don't use Flare, you may have to rely on a more manual, error-prone process to look up super funds.
